The baby boom generation unfortunately didn't turn from their collective sin in America . That would have been for the Byrds . Rather , America continued on its crooked course with the aid of this well-meaning United Nations socialist activist Pete Seeger . Through music America's fate was sealed through Mr. Seeger's folk music enabling the U.N.'s socialist agenda to thoroughly brainwash the world's unwary citizens . Had I met him I would have enjoyed his company . Surely , he was a gracious and charismatic man . But so have been many Mormons and Masons who are enemies of the cross of Christ . Because I mentioned him in a previous blog I'll delineate my reason for drawing attention to his more than likely unintentional anti-Christian views starting with quotes from " America's Most Successful Communist " by Howard Hock , City Journal Summer 2005 ( pp.1 ) ; American music stars are overwhelmingly left liberal . American popular musicians have always been leftists , and their music-as-radical politics has stretched across the decades , expressing the nation's social conscience . The politicization of American pop dates from the 1960's with the Communist Party's " Popular Front " effort to use popular culture to advance its cause . ( pp. 2 ) The American Communist party suddenly asserted that it wanted to build upon , not destroy , American institutions . Communism is 20th century Americanism, Earl Browder , the America's party general secretary , enthused , while extolling Abraham Lincoln in speeches . The Popular front sought to enlist Western artists and intellectuals , some of them not party members but " fellow travelers " , to use art , literature , and music to insulate the Marxist worldview into the broader culture . The American Communist Party's bluntest expression of the idea of culture as a revolutionary tool came in writer V. J. Jerome's talk " Let Us Grasp The Weapons of Culture , " presented to its 15th national convention in New York in 1951 . " Cultural activity is an essential phase of the Party's general ideological work , " Jerome observed . Federal officials cited the speech as an " overt act " seeking the violent overthrow of the U.S. government , landing jerome in prison for three years . It took a while for the Popular Front's strategy to get results in popular music - and Pete Seeger was the catalyst . (pp.3 ) David King Dunaway biographer wrote of the Seegers... Dunaway said ; [ W]hen
the Communist Left and its intellectuals...tried to sink roots in American tradition , radicals turned a new ear to traditional folk tunes ....Made to order for the Communist Popular Front , ( Woody ) Guthrie was a middle-class Oklahoman with a calculated aw-shucks manner , who just happened to be a Communist party sympathizer and had written for communist newspapers . ( Alan Lomax , who introduced Seeger to Woody Guthrie , said ; " Go back to that night when Pete first met Woody Guthrie . You can date the renaissance of American folk song from that night . " ( pp.4 ) Tennessee's communist-founded Highlander Folk School made " We Shall Overcome " a labor rallying song ( my own rephrasing ). Seeger joined the communist party in 1942 . (pp.5 ) The Almanacs campaigned for the Pregressive Party in 1948 .( note that the term " progressive has always been noted for its communist inference ) . The Almanacs opposed the Smith Act which required communist members to register with the government . Seeger played concerts at the Little Red School house in Greenwich Village and its upper school , Elisabeth Irwin High , which , as historian Ronald Radosh recounts , was known for hiring former New York City Public school teachers unwilling to sign a loyalty oath . In 1955 , the House Un-American Activities Committee , holding hearings in New York on communist influence in the entertainment industry , subpoenaed Seeger . He refused to answer committee questions , including whether he was a communist party member... (pp.6 ) Seeger's song , " Where Have All the Flowers Gone " portrayed all war as futile , only implying that those who saw the Soviets as a threat worth fighting were like warmongers historically misguided , or worse . ( pp.11 ) Seeger told Mother Jones magazine not long ago , " I'm still a communist , in the sense that I don't believe the world will survive with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer . " ( This line is the old communist mantra of the struggle Jerusalem's , (Revelation's Babel's), Hegelian dialectical ruse of the struggle between the proletariat , ( the common worker ) , and the bourgeoisie , ( the private property owner ; ( Robin Hood symbolizes communism ; [my comments ] ).

Seeger's conviction was later overturned by a U.S. Court of Appeals on a minor technicality . Courts became so effective in hampering the prosecution of subversive activities that even the Attorney General had trouble citing new organizations as subversive .
Ronald Rodosh wrote a book entitled " Commies . " Like David Horowitz , Ronald grew up in a communist home in the United States and attended the well known " Little Red Schoolhouse " with Mary Travers ,( of Peter Paul and Mary ) . Radosh idolized Pete Seeger who occasionally stayed in Radosh's home as a guest . Previously mentioned Mike Gold called Seeger " the Karl Marx of teenagers . " Seeger once told Radosh that he read the Daily Worker to Woody Guthrie when Guthrie was hospitalized . The Washington Post proclaimed Seeger as " America's best loved commie . "
