God created man so that he could have fellowship with souls like himself who freely choose goodness over evil . There is no earthly reason , not even sipping a spoonful of seeming life-saving pottage in an hour of desperation that can justify choosing eternal death rather than eternal life which can only be gained by Biblical faith in Christ .
