In this sermon , which actually does have some merit , James says the Samaritan woman at the well was living with a man married to someone else . However , this is what is stated in the Bible ; " Jesus said unto her , Thou hast well said , I have no husband : for thou hast had five husbands ; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband : in that saidst thou truly . "
Just because Jesus testified that her current lover was not her husband does not infer that the man was married to another woman . It makes more sense to me that the woman had been married so many times before that she was in this instance committing fornication with a bachelor potential mate . I know that is speculation .
When she told the men in her town of Jesus' prophetic abilities the men were apparently inclined to believe her . After two days they believed him . Again , I am speculating , but I would venture to guess that she either married her lover or disposed of him shortly after Jesus' visit .
Though Dr. Merritt made no Wiccan god or goddess poses during this sermon , he made several of his witches' pyramidal hand formations .
