Reasons Why You Cannot Trust Modern Bible Versions

The Heretical Views of Authors of Modern Bible Versions

The Westcott and Hort Greek New Testament was published in 1881. These men, Westcott and Hort did not believe the Bible, as their own words will prove. They were both Anglican professors of Cambridge University.  They changed the Received Text which the church had trusted since the writing of the New Testament. When indicting somebody, I have found the best proof of criminal acts to be statements given
by the indicted themselves. Following are some of the ostensibly heretical statements these men made regarding Biblical inerrancy. Included is a scant bit of history regarding them. The Biblical versions derived from their lies have permeated the Christian world, corrupting the faith. Thanks to men like these  the time has come when “ they will not listen to sound doctrine”. Their influence spread like wildfire because their corrupt text gave wiggle room for people who feigned themselves Christian. It took at least ten years of secretive work for these men to attempt to justify corruption of  the Received Text. They defended the inclusion of a Unitarian scholar on the Revision Committee.  Pat Robertson articulated on his 700 Club t.v. show  on  September 18th,2006, that the Vaticanus and Sinaticus were trustworthy. Many other unwise preachers like him iterate that grievous error. If you study the beliefs of these two theological culprits you will see why today’s heretics have believed a lie, and continue to perpetuate it. In Revelation 22:18 and 19 God warns men not to change His word; “ For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book”. God had warned men not to do this in the old testament in Deuteronomy 4:2; “ Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you”.

A patent lawyer named Philip Mauro, who was a member of the bar of the Supreme Court said this about the Sinai and Vatican Texts these impostors used to twist God’s long accepted word of truth;  2,877 words were omitted; 536 were added; 935 words were substituted; 2,098 words were transposed; 1,132 words were modified, making 7,578 corruptions  When the new versions imply that words  or verses cannot be found in older, better manuscripts they are referring to these false versions of the Bible.

Westcott’s own son wrote that his father had “ faith in what for lack of a better name, one must call spiritualism”. Westcott and Hort founded “ The Ghostile Child” , also known as The “ Ghost Society” in the 1850’s. This society investigated supernatural occurrences. Unless desiring holy communion with God, why would a Christian seek such supernatural oddities? A website revealing their own heretical views is ;” From Their Own Mouths” Westcott & Hort.

Hort knew their diabolical perversions of God’s word  would seem heretical. In “ Life” volume one page 425 this is what he wrote to Westcott;  “ “ Also- but this may be cowardice – I have a sort of craving that our text should be cast upon the world before we deal with matters likely to brand us with suspicion. I mean, a text , issued by men already known for what will undoubtedly be treated as dangerous heresy, will have great difficulties in finding it’s way to regions which it might otherwise hope to reach, and whence it would not be easily banished by subsequent alarms”. Hort knew the danger, but opposed God nevertheless.

Hort believed in the theory of evolution; “ My feeling is so strong that the theory is unanswerable”. (  Life of Hort,1:416)

Westcott also believed in evolution; “ Each man is at once an individual of a race and a new power in the evolution of the race”. … Have you read Darwin? How I should like a talk with you about it! In spite of difficulties, I am inclined to think it unanswerable. In any case it is a treat to read such a book”. ( “ Final Authority”- Hort to Westcott)

In 1890 Westcott had denied Genesis ; “ No one now, I suppose, holds that the first three chapters of Genesis, for example, give a literal history. I could never understand how any one reading them with open eyes could think they did”.

Westcott held the Masonic, universalist belief in the universal Fatherhood of God; ( John 10:29) “ The thought , which is concrete in v. 28, is here traced back to it’s most absolute form as resting on the essential power of God in His relation of universal Fatherhood”.

Though I have not come across any evidence of Masonic membership of Westcott,  his salutes to their leanings were evident. The Bible says man is evil from his youth up, but, Westcott says; “ In spite of his frailty man recognizes his divine affinity”. This is a lie. In the unsaved man there is no divine affinity.

Regarding John 4:1 , “ When therefore the Lord knew”, Westcott says Jesus supernatural knowledge wasn’t real;   “ Nothing implies that the knowledge of the Lord was supernatural”.

Hort said Jesus and Mary are equally deserving of worship;  “ I am very far from pretending to understand completely the ever reviewed vitality of Mariolatry… I have been persuaded for many years that Mary- worship and Jesus- worship have very much in common in their cause and results”.

Only Jesus’ blood can pay for your sins . Hort didn’t agree with this. He said; “ Certainly nothing can be more unscriptural than the modern limiting of Christ’s bearing our sins and sufferings to His death; but indeed that is only one aspect of an almost universal heresy ”. 9 ( Life and letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort, New York, 1896, Vol 1, pp.120)

In the same book about Hort on page 430 Hort’s blasphemy is continued regarding Christ’s alleged inadequacy to save anyone through His death on the cross; “ The fact is, I do not see how God’s justice can be satisfied without every man’s suffering in his own person the full penalty for his sins”. I am glad I will never have to do what Hort falsely portends.

Westcott rejected the fact of the Bible’s infallibility in “ Life and Letters of Brooke Foss Westcott , New York, 1903, Vol.1, pp. 207;  “ I am very glad to have seen both your note and Lightfoot’s. Glad too that we had such an opportunity of openly speaking. For I too  “ must disclaim setting forth infallibility” in front of my convictions. All I hold is, that the more I learn, the more I am convinced that fresh doubts come from my own ignorance, and that at present I find the presumption in favour of absolute truth- I reject the word infallability- of Holy Scripture overwhelming”. Westcott’s obvious problem here was that he held his own convictions above God’s word. He also admitted he was ignorant, which has proven obvious to any true Christian.

It appears both these men held socialist views. In “ Life and letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort, New York, 1896, Vol.1.,,pp. 130  comes this quote; “  I have pretty well made up my mind to devote my three or four years up here to the study of Communism”. In the same book on pp. 138 is this quote; “  I can only say that it was through the region of pure politics that I myself approach Communism”.

Communism and Darwinism are inextricably intertwined. This is a quote from Life and letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort, New York, 1896, Vol.1,pp. 414-416; “ But the book which has most engaged me is Darwin. Whatever may be thought of it, it is a book that one is proud to be contemporary with… My feeling is strong that the theory is unanswerable. If so, it opens up a new period”.

Communists, Darwinists, New Agers, Utopians, One Worlders, etc., often believe that heaven can be earthly. The Bible says it is not. In “ Life and Letters of Brooke Foss Westcott , New York,1903, Vol.2, pp. 49, 253 ,394  Westcott’s heresies are; “ No doubt the language of the Rubric is unguarded , but it saves us from the error of connecting the Presence of Christ’s glorified humanity with place; “ heaven is a state and not a place”…. Yet the unseen is the largest part of life. Heaven lies about us now in infancy alone; and by swift, silent pauses for thought , for recollection , for aspiration, we cannot only keep fresh the influence of that diviner atmosphere, but breathe it more habitually…. We may reasonably hope, by patient, resolute, faithful, united endeavor to find heaven about us here, the glory of our earthly life”.

In  Fenton’s  “Life and Letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort, New York 1896, Vol.1,pp. 122 Hort had no Biblical fear of the Biblical hell though this Bible interpreter admitted He had been living godlessly;  “ Certainly in my case it proceeds from no personal dread; when I have been living most godlessly, I have never been able to frighten myself with visions of a distant future, even while I ‘held’ the doctrine” .

In the same book Fenton denies that the Bible says Satan is evil, that he is material, and suggests nobody else does; …” The Word upholds his existence , not his evil. That is in himself; that is the mysterious, awful possibility implied in his being a will. I need scarcely say that I do not mean by this acknowledgement of an evil spirit that I acknowledge a material devil. But does anyone ? ”( pp.50)

On page 78 in Life and Letters Westcott reveals his socialist leanings more clearly with one of the many well known socialist buzzwords, “ progressive”…. “ Do you not understand the meaning of Theological ‘Development’ ?   It is briefly this, that in an earlier time some doctrine is proposed in a simple obscure form, or even but darkly hinted at, which in succeeding ages, as the wants of men grow, grows with them- in fact , that Christ is always progressive in it’s principles and doctrines”.  This is the Fabian Socialist view being brought about more recently with, not “ Theological Development” , but , the New Age “ Sustainable Development” ploy now incorporated in every U.S. city and every nation in the world which will eventuate the Mystery Religion of Witchcraft to have been inculcated into the minds of the entire world, but for a few believing Christians.

On page 46 of the same book Westcott has not yet articulated belief in Christ as Savior and Lord;  “ My faith is still wavering. I cannot determine how much we must believe; how much, in fact, is necessarily required of a member of the Church”.

On page 81 of the same book he states his appreciation of the Catholic church; “ After leaving the monastery we shaped our course to a little oratory… It is very small, with one kneeling-place ; and behind a screen was a ‘ Pieta’ the size of life ( i.e. a Virgin and dead Christ)… I could not help thinking on the grandeur of the Romish Church, on her zeal even in error, on her earnestness and self-devotion, which we might, with nobler views and a purer end, strive to imitate. Had I been alone I could have knelt there for hours”.

On page 52 of the same book Westcott is quoted ; “ I never read an account of a miracle ( in Scripture?) but I seem instinctively to feel its improbability, and discover some want of evidence in the account of it”.

Page 400 of the same book reveals his disbelief in Biblical authority ; “ There are , I fear , still more serious differences between us on the subject of authority, and especially the authority of the Bible”.

In Westcott’s “ The Book of Hebrews” page 49  Westcott stated; “ Christ’s moral perfection was not reached till after his death”.

From the book, “ Heresy of B.F. Westcott  comes this quote regarding Christ; “ All that truly belongs to humanity, all therefore that truly belongs to every individual in the whole race belongs to him”.(pp.35) … I must refute Mr. Westcott by asking him if sin belonged
to Jesus too?

The Authorized Version had been relied upon worldwide from 1611 until 1881 when Westcott and Hort thoroughly perverted it. How could men with beliefs like these have obeyed the Holy Spirit when they didn’t really believe Him?

Early scriptures were passed around from church to church as is evidenced in Colossians 4:16; which reads; “ And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea “. Surely the churches watched over similar material, discerning and discarding false works. The early church  equated Paul’s words with God’s word. They compared copies. Though false teachers may have changed texts it would have been easy for the fledgling church guided by the Holy Spirit to correct them by cross referencing them with other churches. Readings that agreed were accepted.  The two largest Bible societies, the British and the American exclusively published the Greek Received text and the King James Version until men with itching ears desired the distortions and lies purported by Westcott and Hort in 1881, when Darwinian and socialist thought was being deeply entrenched throughout the world.
